 Armed with a degree in Physical Education and Recreation Leslie began a twenty-five year career in the non-profit industry. The last twenty-three have been as an Executive Director at the Boys and Girls Club of Troy (10 years) Camp Fire Boys and Girls (5 years) and now Affirmations – the community center for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people & their allies. (8 years). Building relationships is her favorite part of the job yet can, at times, be the most challenging aspect. She is also a member of the ACLU of Michigan Advisory Panel, Ferndale Downtown Development Authority, and the Paramount Bank LGBT Advisory Panel and is on the board of the CenterLink, the Community for LGBT Centers. She and her wife, Colleen, were married in Windsor, Canada in January 2006 and live in Royal Oak along with Beau the Wonder Dog. In her spare time she is a stand-up comic. Her real goal in life is to play golf by day and be funny by night. |
