Michigan Pride Membership
Because the fight for Equality isn’t just a one-day event,
Michigan Pride needs you to help us take a stand for LGBT rights in Michigan!
By becoming a member of Michigan Pride, you can give much-needed visibility to the real
issues that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people face every day. On 28 June 2008, for the 20th
consecutive year more than 15,000 people will rally on the steps of Michigan's Capitol building, calling attention
to issues such as workplace discrimination, HIV, second-parent adoption and hatecrimes. As a member of
Michigan Pride, you become personally responsible for helping to make the annual Pride March and
Rally possible.
Your membership will also help Michigan Pride continue to work to build a stronger statewide
LGBT community. Since 2003, Michigan Pride has donated more than $9,000 from the Pride March,
Rally and Festival to other non-profit LGBT and HIV organizations through a paid volunteer work
program. Your membership will help us give more support to other organizations across the state. Also, in
03/04 Michigan Pride worked with other groups to collect more than 10,000 signatures urging action by
lawmakers on LGBT issues. We delivered these signatures to Lansing, drawing attention to the needs of
our community!
Your membership will help us bring quality entertainment to the statewide Festival, and special
events to communities around the state throughout the year.
Your membership will help us continue our outreach work with GayStraight Alliances and on
college campuses.
